Brussels Griffon

The Brussels Griffon, a breed that originated in Belgium some two centuries ago through the crossbreeding of an English Toy Spaniel, Pug and German terrier, is renowned for its intelligence mixed with delightful silliness. Although this little canine likes to assume they control their households (which they usually do!), at heart he/she is a total marshmallow who loves nothing more than having his/her people’s full attention on them. Unless you are willing to have endless patience and be able to find humor in all shenanigans thrown your way – living with one may be quite difficult.

With a variety of personalities, the Brussels Griffon is often described as anything from outgoing and energetic to more timid or shy. But when content with life, this pup can be incredibly affectionate and pliable – always eager for playtime! He’s known for being the ultimate “Velcro dog”, devotedly attached to his beloved human at all times. If you’re looking for an companion that loves nothing more than spending time by your side, then look no further than the charming Brussels Griffon!

If you are looking for a mischievous companion, the Brussels Griffon is certainly one to consider. This breed has inherited some of its behavior from their terrier ancestors and loves being the center of attention! If they feel like they’ve been overlooked or left behind, these little pups have no problem letting everyone in your household know by overturning trash cans and unrolling toilet paper. Not only that but be sure everything on the floor belongs to them with their motto “finders, keepers” – so it’s essential to crate train young BGs when there aren’t any human eyes around him.

Be wary of the Brussels Griffon’s escape artist tendencies; ensure their fencing cannot be dug or climbed over as they are incredibly athletic for such a small dog, ranging from 8-12 pounds. These amazing pups possess a strength and agility that could rival Superman himself!

Not only is he an incredibly intelligent, athletic pup—but his enthusiasm makes him a standout in dog sports such as Agility, Obedience, Rally and Tracking. All you have to do is show him the fun side of these activities and use positive reinforcement techniques so that he is excited about them. After all—training should never be forced but rather enjoyed!

Griffons are typically friendly towards other household pets, yet as most of the toy breeds do, they will consistently confront dogs that far exceed their size. Unaware of their smaller stature, these adorable creatures must be shielded from themselves.

Brussels Griffons come in two distinct varieties, a smooth-coated and rough-coated type. Fortunately, neither of them sheds heavily. Smooths require just a twice weekly brushing while the coat of their rough counterparts must be brushed twice per week and hand stripped every three to four months for that perfect hard texture. As an alternative, pet owners with Griffon’s sporting a rougher coat can opt for keeping it in Schnauzer clip minus the eyebrows!

It is an absolute must that Griffons live indoors and never outdoors. They have flat faces, making them highly sensitive to high temperatures, thus putting them at risk of heatstroke if not kept in air-conditioned places.
