Miniature Schnauzer

Miniature Schnauzers were bred in Germany as farm dogs in the 15th century for the purpose of ridding barns and houses of rodents. Before indoor plumbing was available, this task was essential to ensure a clean living space. As the Standard Schnauzer took more room and resources to feed, it was crossbred with Affenpinschers and black Poodles to produce a smaller dog that could do its job efficiently. Thus began the story of one of today’s most beloved breeds – The Miniature Schnauzer!

Not only does he still have the drive to hunt small animals like mice, rats, and squirrels – who all know when this Miniature Schnauzer is near – but he also has a special job: being your companion. He can really stand out in earthdog trials due to his urge for hunting; some dogs of this breed even thrive in them! Thanks to their intelligence and athleticism, these pups are known for excelling in obedience and agility competitions as well.

His keen earthdog trial skills also make him keen on pocket pets such as gerbils and small birds, so if you own smaller animals it is essential to separate them from the Miniature Schnauzer. Gradually introduce your pet to its new furry friend while keeping a close eye on their interactions – they may be family members eventually but it’s still important not leave them alone together without supervision!

Bursting with energy and an overflowing personality, the Miniature Schnauzer will join you in any activity. He is always there – even when someone knocks on your door – though perhaps a bit louder than expected! With proper training, his inclination to bark can be suppressed.

The fluffy, bushy beard and eyebrows provide Minis with a captivating expression that is eerily human-like. Its distinctive coat comes in three distinct color patterns: salt and pepper, black and silver, or solid black – all of which are wiry to the touch.
