Blue Picardy Spaniel

With its heritage in the area around the mouth of France’s River Somme, The Blue Picardy Spaniel is a captivating breed dating back to nearly 1900. Due to quarantine regulations in Britain, British shooters would take their dogs here and board them in nearby Picardy – resulting in English Setter blood mixing with that of local Spaniels. This was how Blue Picardy Spaniel was created!

The Blue Picardy is an especially versatile hunter, proficient at finding and pointing birds on land or water. His natural skills are easy to develop from a young age, while his intense style of standing point ensures that he stays focused on the task at hand. Depending on training and terrain, the Blue Picardy can be trained to search either in close proximity or farther away for game – making him a great choice for any hunt!

An average Blue Picardy Spaniel stands at approximately 22-24 inches when measured from the withers, and typically weighs in around 43-45 pounds.
