YOUNG CONSERVATION AREA DOG HIKE
January 21 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm EST
We haven’t been here for a while, let’s go back. Not one of my favorites, but a lot of people really like it.
A rough, hilly rugged trail. It’s a conservation area, so it’s not well manicured like some of our other trails. First part is a big hill up, then back down. The other half of the trail winds through a couple of creeks and a pretty stand of huge pines, really very pretty on that part.
Total of about 6 miles, rated MODERATE.
HIKING BOOTS REQUIRED for safety.
Poles if you use them.
Bring water for your dog, there is none on the 3 miles of hilly trail.
No bathrooms here, stop in Eureka if you need to.
Our pace is moderate, and we stop whenever needed to water dogs, take pictures or just catch our breath. Not a power hike, we don’t do that.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS:
Your GPS should work well here, or meetup mapping.
From Hwy 44 in Eureka….take 109 south over the river to stoplight at Hwy F. Turn right, go about 4 miles. You’ll pass John McKeever Road, then not much farther. Gravel parking lot on left.
