Saturday Morning Walk – Golden Gardens Park, Seattle, WA
March 25 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm EDT
Walking in Winter. Normal winter weather will not cancel an event, but extreme cold, snow, high winds or torrential rain, will cause me to cancel completely or change what we do for safety’s sake. Please check in the morning of the event to see what is happening. Arm yourself for seasonal weather swings. Please keep your RSVP up to date – even if you are on the waiting list.
Please familiarize yourself with the posted hike before you sign up so that you know what you are getting into and can come prepared.
Participation will be limited per rules of the trails and comfort level of host, so be courteous and only RSVP if you intend to show up.
Dogs must be leashed and poop scooped. (No bags left behind)
Seattle’s Golden Gardens Park is best known for its picnic area and beach. On summer weekends, the parking lot may be full and the beach crowded. Less well-known is the extensive network of intersecting trails on the steep slopes east of the railroad tracks. The trails, as well as staircases and sediment catch basins, were constructed as a WPA project in the mid-1930s. Today, some of the stone and concrete work shows signs of age, but the main trails are well-maintained and in good condition.
