Let’s take our pups to the mountains!
For this mellow adventure, MEET in the Picnic Area to hike a portion of the PCT that is largely shaded and visits Monument Peak. We hit the trail at 9. (Arrive early if you and your dog need time to prep.)
Our 6+ mile lollipop route includes visiting Monument Peak and a rise that is not named/numbered. Like the Peak, the rise has nice views. We return to the Picnic Area after enjoying the views. Total gentle elevation gain is approximately 460′.
An Adventure Pass is needed. To purchase your pass, visit a Cleveland National Forest office, find a local Adventure Pass vendor or purchase online at https://www.recreation.gov/. Passes may also be available at REI.
BRING MORE water than you think you will need for your dog and yourself. Dogs can overheat quickly – ample water is critical to their well being. Bring a water dish too.
BRING a snack for you and your pup. Also carry the other safety essentials.
WEAR sun protection. Check the Mt Laguna weather forecast and dress accordingly. Wear hiking shoes or trail runners.
LEASH REQUIREMENT: Use a leash that is 6′ or less in length. Dogs must remain on-leash for the entire hike. NO RETRACTABLE LEASHES.
SPACE: Do not allow dogs to meet via nose-to-nose or nose-to-tail interactions, especially upon arrival. Maintain a minimum 3′ distance between dogs.
REACTIVITY: Please position your dog in the back of the pack if they are reactive or uncomfortable in a group. Alert other owners when their dogs get too close to your dog and/or invade your dog’s space.
DISCLAIMER: You are completely responsible for the behavior and welfare of your dog and yourself. The host is not at all responsible for you or your dog. By participating in this event, you acknowledge your responsibility and liability. You also acknowledge that the host is not a professional guide or dog trainer.
This event is cross posted with another hiking group.
RSVPs close Saturday at 6 pm.
