Let’s go Paddle Boarding with our Aussies at Fletcher’s Cove in DC!
August 14 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am EDT
Thanks to Sarah and Tonto for hosting this event!
**When**: Sunday Aug 14 at 9am
**Where:** Fletcher’s Cove Boat House
4940 Canal Rd NW, Washington, DC 20007
Let’s paddle at Fletcher’s Cove in DC! This is just a mile or so north of Georgetown on the Potomac. There’s a dog friendly rental place and a free area to put in if you have your own gear. We can meet out in the cove and then paddle up river for a bit before letting the current carry us back to the cove area.
Here’s some great info about paddle boarding with your pup if you haven’t tried it before http://www.isupworld.com/sup-with-your-dog/. I’m happy to help everyone get settled in and demonstrate some basic paddling techniques.
**Directions:** When you turn into off of Canal road, stay to the right and go past the first parking area to a tunnel. That will take you under the C&O canal to a huge parking area and the rental place. The rental place will be on the left right as you get to the parking lot.
Rental Information (reservations optional): https://boatingindc.com/fletchers-boathouse/
If you have your own equipment, continue down to the far end of the parking lot. There’s a small beach/launch area where you can walk your board or kayak into the water.
**Things to bring:** life vest for your dog (the handle is fantastic for getting them back on board), Water for you and your dog, Sunscreen/protective clothing, Footwear (if your dog falls and swims to shore you may have to go after him/her), dry bag for your phone/keys/snack/etc..
**Weather:** Will cancel if chance of storms or heavy rain. Or if river conditions are bad.
