Labor Day Weekend Camping/Hiking @ Big Pine Lakes!!!! Glacial Lakes & Rivers..

September 2, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - September 5, 2022 @ 7:00 pm EDT

**Labor Day Weekend is fast approaching. It’s the final hurrah of summer.**
**And what are you going to do to get away?**

*Here is an easy escape you deserve. Come alone and leave with friends. Come with friends and leave with more friends.*

Camping and community!!!

We have Camping at Big Pine . . . We are camping at the trailhead that leads to Big Pine Lakes. Our campsite is at 7,800 feet so it’s nice cool weather.

Big Pine Lakes is an amazing hidden gem. The water is a crazy hue. The Minarets rising above are stunning. [Here is what Instagram shows](https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/bigpinelakes/)

From our campsite we do have to hike to Big Pine Lakes (there are 7 lakes).

The main plan is to arrive Fri sometime (very late is OK) and then for the main Saturday activity will hike to Lake 2 or 3 (the pretties ones). We will head off in several different timed departures making it smaller groups on the trail.

This will leave Sunday for exploring to other areas such as Spark Plug Mine, or there are also amazing Hot Springs we can drive to.

**Now for the BEST part . . . you can stay (if you wish) Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon nights. That’s FIVE NIGHTS! Arrive and depart on what works for you. AND WE HAVE A PRIVATE SITE with extended flexible time FOR Memorial Day WEEKEND!!!!!!**

What if I stay only two nights. Is it less? No. We have the sites for FIVE nights ON A HOLIDAY WEEKEND! You can stay as late as you want on Sunday before packing up. It gives us flexibility.

Our site is amazing. Tons of conveniences. There is a small cafe that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and a small general store with a few necessities for if you need them.
Many of the sites have electrical at the site or close by. Same goes for water. Restrooms are close. Space for cars, and an overflow lots near.

Best of all . . . There is a Fish Pond!!!!! Stocked with trout. You can even catch dinner. The fish pond is free!!! For fishing you will need to buy (AND HAVE WITH YOU) a fishing license before you go.

Tons of shade from mature pines for many of the sites

We are steps away from the trail-head AND steps away from the roaring glacier fed Big Pine Creek.

You only need the basics of camping gear. [Click Here for Newbie Camping Advice All things GEAR ](https://www.meetup.com/MoreToExplore/events/282543094/) This is easy civilized camping.

Food: Fri eve will be a potluck around the main campfire pit. There will also be multiple smaller campfires.
Sat the camp owner will have a full BBQ dinner you can purchase. Or cook your own at your campfire or on your stove.

More about Hiking and Excursions: Different sites have different mileage and elevations. Google the hike and use your favorite website for info.
For the most part it is about 5 miles there, and 5 back. And about 3000 ft elevation change. So it is a challenging hike.

IF you are planning on Everest Base Camp, Salcantay or Kilimanjaro, . . this will qualify as a training hike.

Sunday options[ Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest](https://www.instagram.com/explore/locations/904989489/ancient-bristlecone-pine-forest/?hl=en)

Up to Five nights/Four Days on a Holiday Weekend in an AMAZING place
