KAYAKING at Simpson Lake/Simpson Creek
January 15 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm EST
Temps in 50’s and sunny. Winds of 11 mph. We will paddle the entire creek for sure. Will do the lake, if not too windy.
WE WILL LAUNCH FROM BOAT RAMP, NOT THE BEACH, and stay in the protected creek. Arrive at appropriate time and be ready to launch around 10:00.
Excellent for beginners and first timers. No boats, no current, just a nice safe little creek. A casual paddle, about 2 miles. Creek is pretty protected and the best place to go on a windy day.
Water is cold, but creek should be totally thawed.
Wear your knee high boots and warm socks.
Up to you if you bring dogs. Probably okay if they stay in kayak.
Dogs and humans must wear PFD at all time when water is this cold.
Greenie (Intex) kayaks are fine here.
DIRECTIONS:
Use your GPS or meetup mapping. This is the boat launch ramp. Do not go to the beach/main entrance to the park. Off Grand Glaize Parkway at the far west end of the lake. Meetup mapping arrow is in the right place.
