Free Salsa Dancing Lessons &/or Latin Fun Happyhour at Cafe Citron-come when can

November 30, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm EST

Hello. Sorry for the interruption. We’re going salsa dancing again with free lessons along with a delicious fun Latin happyhour. You may come to both or one. On Wednesday, November 30, we’re going to a Latin American bistro known for salsa & happyhours & we’ll experience both at Cafe Citron in Dupont Circle (1343 Connecticut Ave, N.W. on left side of Conn. if heading South),right on the Red Line. Come when you can. I’ll be there by 6 pm to try to save us seats at the bar, where we’ll enjoy happyhour with reduced drinks & food prices. Happyhour goes from 6 to 8 p.m. Beers, house wine, & cocktails are discounted at happyhour, meaning $3 (pre-Covid) for a Sagres beer or $5 (pre-Covid) for a mango mojito.”Happy-hour tasters” include a Bolivian potato cake stuffed with beef, cheese, & spices, & fried plantains, bolitas decangrias (mini crab balls with veggies), chicken tenders, Caribbean spicy wings, chips & salsa, calamari, quesadillas, etc. According to the Washington Post (which gave it an editor’s pick), some of the best mojitos in Washington are poured here. Cafe Citron, according to the Washington Post, is also known for its happyhours & salsa. After happyhour, free salsa lessons go from 8-10 p.m. (But you can stay for all or part of the salsa dancing lessons.) You can come for happyhour &/or salsa or both. It should be a lot of fun!! “Latin bistro Cafe Citron is one of the few examples of an urban oasis that is able to transport visitors to an exotic destination without shoving relaxation down their throats. It manages to capture the feeling of being on holiday without serving drinks in plastic coconuts or employing overly festive menu descriptions such as “a party in your mouth!” or ‘vacation on a plate!’ The R&R offered here is hip, understated, &, often, in liquid form. Although mojitos & caipirinhas are no longer of-the-moment drinks, Citron’s versions are well-crafted enough to entice even without cachet. (Particularly good is the mojito, stuffed with lime sections & tons of mint mashed by the bartender’s own hand—& never overly sweet.) In order to counteract the dizzying effect of the gourmet cocktails & loud music, it’s smart to take advantage of the absorptive capacity of the many fine starchy items on the menu: maybe the lomo saltado, a dish of grilled beef that also boasts fried potatoes & rice. Tasty & economical, plantains are also an excellent choice.

Thus, this gives us another great chance to bond, have good conversations, laugh & get to know each other better over happy hour & then learn to salsa together; the only negative, but a big one, is we can’t bring our fab dogs. So please let me know if you know of any indoor forums where we can bring our dogs, like bars.
And who minds feeling relaxed & like they have been transported to an exotic destination. Cafe Citron is pretty convenient along the red line. I hope you can join us- come for the happy hour &/or salsa dancing lessons. I’d love & can really use any of your valuable input- on dog activities we can enjoy together- and you can do that when you answer the questions after rsvping. So do rsvp if you can make it– no need to rsvp no, if you can’t. We hope you can join us for more good times on November 30th. Please rsvp & join us- & hope you are having a wonderful week. Looking forward to more good times with the doglovers!!!!

Cheers, Robbie Susan & Bogart
