DOG HIKE on Lower Chubb Trail

Easy, about 4 miles, follows the Meramec River on level dirt/grass trails. A real wilderness trail. One of my favorite hikes. We’ll have a short trek off the beaten path through the woods to the beach. Some burrs in about 20′ of this.

Dogs can be off leash here, if they stay with you and don’t harass the other dogs. We leash up whenever we pass others, so your dog needs to stay close to you and come immediately when called.

Frontline your dog, ticks are still out.
Bring water for your dog.

Cell reception at parking lot is bad, so allow time to get there and be ready to hike promptly at 10:00, or you probably won’t find us once we start.

There are 3 trailheads for the Chubb Trail, come to the right one.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:

Hwy 44 to Lewis Road exit (about 6 miles w of 141). Take exit, go to right on road, pass Tyson Park entrance to Lewis Road stop sign. Follow Lewis about 2-3 miles…you will go down a huge hill, past some very nice homes and golf course.

At bottom of hill, JUST BEFORE THE RR TRACKS, turn right onto Allen Road and follow it to the very end. It’s a ratty little road at the end, full of potholes, but it really does go to a parking lot.
