December San Diego Corgi Meetup – Corgi Caroling in Balboa Park
December 17, 2022 @ 7:30 pm - 9:45 pm EST
Corgi Caroling thru Balboa Park!!!
…Bells on bob tails ring. Making spirits bright. What fun it is to laugh and sing a sleighing song tonight…
No caroling required… the pups will do the howling for us.
We’ll meet at Nate’s Point at 4:15pm (1/2 before sunset) for a little pre-caroling romp to work our wiggles out and decorate our corgis with bells & glow necklaces. At sunset (4:45pm), we’ll leash-up for a corgi parade across the Laurel Street Bridge to the Bea Evenson Fountain. On the way back, we’ll pass the Lilly Pond and finish at Lady Carolyn’s Pub at The Old Globe (http://www.balboapark.org/in-the-park/lady-carolyns-pub). There you will find pup friendly outdoor seating and dessert items including warm apple bread pudding, hot chocolate, cappuccino, and even Irish coffee. Perfect treats to warm-up every corgi owner, both inside and out.
BRING: your decorated dogs ready for caroling! Holiday attire, sweaters, collars, or colorful scarfs are suggested, but not necessary. Some corgis prefer not wearing clothes, and that’s ok too. I’ll provide bells and glow necklaces as my gift to you. Light up your pups even brighter with your own, additional light sticks, necklaces/bracelets or other corgi lights. I recommend battery operated LED’s because they shine brightly without getting hot (you can attach the battery pack to a harness with duct tape).
OPTIONAL (But a lot of fun!): Join in on THE HOLIDAY PILE by BRINGing a small unwrapped toy or treat. Once at the fountain, we’ll throw all the toys & treats in a holiday pile. Then we’ll let our corgis nose around, one at a time, to pick one to take home.
HELP NEEDED: It’s time again to request small contributions from our members to help offset the costs of having this Meetup. I really do need your help. The truth is that I pay bi-annual dues to Meetup and an occasional permit fee for Meetup locations. I could pass those expenses on to you by charging an annual membership fee or a special event fee or a fee for incidentals like the bells and glow necklaces for this Meetup, or the Howl-O-Ween contest. That’s too many fees! Fees ruin the fun and discourage people from attending. I even had to pay dues for last year when we couldn’t Meetup. We have 40-60 people who participate every month (plus a bunch of other members too). If everyone at this Meetup contributed $5 per corgi, that would cover everything and I would not need to ask again for a year. So far this approach has come close. I’m asking for just $5 per pup for the year. PLEASE keep the fun going by dropping your $5 into the MONEY JAR. I’ll have it with me at the dog park, at the gate where we exit the park on leash, and at the pub. Thank you.

Q: The corgis do a fine job of caroling on their own, but if anyone knows of a musician or two that might want to join the procession, please let me know.
Rain will cancel this event.
Light up the night as part of an unforgettable procession of jingling, glowing corgis as we meander thru Balboa Park.
