************************** 2021 info below************
Hello Corgi Lovers!!
This Saturday, the 4th of December, is the BIG DAY for the Corgi Corps!! Don’t forget to bring a sign with your Corgi’s name on it to hang around your neck – the bigger the better!! Corgi Christmas Costumes are encouraged, but totally optional. A few of you have asked what the humans should be wearing – dress for weather and comfort first, then let the Christmas Spirit guide your selection! I checked the weather for this weekend and it is supposed to be in the low to mid 50’s with no precipitation – yea!!
Parking is a bigger issue this year than I realized. Hopefully you all got parking passes. If you did not, please refer to the attached pdf with the location of Lost Barrel Winery on the west side of town and Mickie Gordon Park on the east side of town. These are the shuttle pick up locations. You can be dropped off there and hop on the shuttle with your corgi, as long as they are leashed. I have also included the 11:00 am Hunt Parade info and the 2:00 pm Christmas Parade Schedule. Remember that traffic will be severely restricted during both parades (refer to pdf for detail).
Also, refer to the website http://www.christmasinmiddleburg.org website for the schedule of events.
We have been asked to line up around 1:15 pm (no later than 1:30 pm) at The American Legion Post 295, which is located at 111 The Plains Road, Middleburg, VA 20117. That is on the west end of town, south of the intersection of Route 50 and Route 626 (The Plains Road). For those of you who have been in the parade before, this is a change from five years ago when we were at the National Sporting Library. Here is more detail:
Thank you for participating in the 2021 Middleburg Christmas Parade, on Saturday, December 4th. We hope this will be a joyful, celebratory, festival day for all.

All entry participants should be ready to go by 1:15pm
Arrival at your staging area can begin after 11:45am
The Middleburg Hunt Review goes through town from 11:00am to 11:30am. Washington Street will be closed during that time, so plan your staging arrival after 11:45am.
Your listing is: Corgi Corps
Your Line Up # is: 13
Your staging area is: The American Legion Post 295, which is located at 111 The Plains Road, Middleburg, VA 20117
IMPORTANT ROUTE INFORMATION
The parade route assembles the lineup out of the staging areas onto The Plains Road, proceeding down to Rt. 50 Washington Street. The lineup steps eastwards onto the parade route at Washington Street, proceeding east for five blocks to Hamilton Street, turning right one block then right again onto Federal Street, then finishing on Federal at S. Madison Street.
On the return route, Federal Street will be closed to vehicles beyond S. Madison Street. Returning parade vehicles must turn left and go back into the Hill School main entrance. Walkers who can stay on the sidewalks can continue on Federal St. sidewalks back up to American Legion.
Please remember that all Corgis’ need to be on a leash, we need to walk in a tighter group than in year’s past, and bring pooper scooper bags just in case!
My mobile number is listed below if you have any questions. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend this year, so PLEASE email me photos and let me know how it goes!!!
It is back and it is that time of year again to start marking your calendars for the annual Corgi Corps group in the Middleburg Christmas parade! This year Christmas in Middleburg is going to be held on Saturday, December 4th. Please note that the Parade time is at 2:00 pm. Many of you who have attended in years past know that there are lots of fun activities the entire day (see schedule, below), and our parade entry has been a fun and favorite parade entry for many years. We all make a sign with our Corgi’s names on it and wear it around our necks, and then march down the parade route with our beloved Corgi’s, many of whom are attired in festive doggy Christmas attire (totally optional!). Be sure to make your sign big enough so that the spectators on the sidewalks can see the name of your Corgi from afar!
To give you an idea of how some of us dress up our Corgi’s, click on the web address for photos of decorated Corgi’s in 2016 parade!! https://www.washingtonian.com/2016/12/06/here-are-lots-of-pictures-of-dogs-in-christmas-outfits/
The parade participants will be asked to line up around 1:15 pm and we are usually assigned an area near the Sporting Library or the American Legion Hall, on the west end of town on the Plains Road. I will continue to email details to you as I get them from the Parade Committee, such as the staging area location. Important parking information and other items can also be found on the Christmas in Middleburg web site, http://www.christmasinmiddleburg.org. I encourage all of you to consult this website (especially https://christmasinmiddleburg.org/#schedule) since there is important parking information for 2021 on it. I am also going to put a post on the Facebook pages for “Visit Middleburg” and “Middleburg, VA” and “Corgi’s of Virginia, and any other Corgi Facebook pages that I think would be appropriate.
This year it is important to march in a more cohesive manner and also to march fairly efficiently (quickly). In years past the parade was over an hour and a half, which the Organizers feel is too long.
I will be sending out a follow up email with our lineup location and other details the week of the parade. I have a confession to make – my husband and I will be out of town the day of the parade, and couldn’t change our schedule. However, I will be in touch with all of you via email with the line up information,
Holly Hoopes Hudimac
and a special message from Rhett and Beddy to their fellow corgis – There is plenty of fresh delicious horse candy left by the other floats along the route so bring your appetite and make sure your human has hand sanitizer if they want to pry it from your mouth!
