2023 Barefoot Mardi Gras!! (In Corpus Christi)

Laissez les bons temps rouler! While most of us will have dogs, you don’t have to have one to participate – just a willingness to hang out with them at the beach!
Always held the Saturday before Fat Tuesday, the 2023 Barefoot Mardi Gras with Parade, Festival and King & Queens Ball is scheduled for 2/18/23.
The Barefoot Parade, which travels the beach on North Padre Island between Whitecap Blvd and Nueces County Park Rd near Access Road 5, is expected to have 60+ floats. The Official Barefoot festivities kick off when the Parade begins at 11am. FREE!
The Barefoot Festival will feature food trucks, live music, artists, exhibitors and children’s activities. There is an additional fee for this section.

Padre Balli Park, http://nuecesbeachparks.com/index_files/Padre_Balli_Park.htm, has been a great, FREE location for many of our summer meetups. Dogs are allowed on leash and there is free parking available close to the park.
Being about a 2.5 hr drive, plan to make a day outta it or reserve a room and stay for the weekend!

Please be sure to bring plenty of sunscreen and fresh water for you and your dogs. We’ll stake out a table with some shade but if anyone wants to bring a small canopy for the group to share, it would be appreciated.
**Directions:**
Take IH 37 S to S Padre Island Drive (about 130 miles from IH 37 & Loop 410), via exit 4A, towards Airport/NAS-CCAD/Padre Island. Go about 16 miles, which at that point it turns into Park Rd 22 and go another eight. The physical address of the park is 15820 Park Road 22.
Take the last entrance into Padre Balli (there will be 3). Look for a brown sign on the right of the road that says “Nueces Co Park / Bob Hall Pier.” Turn LEFT. We’re meeting at the LEFT-MOST area of the park and walking across the way to the parade route. I have ordered a flag to make it easier to locate us along parade route, if it comes in on time. I will post a picture day-of to show you where we are.
