Czechoslovokian Vlcak

Despite its recent founding history, the Czechoslovakian Vlcak is an authentic purebred. It was initially bred in 1955 as a cross between German Shepherds and Carpathian Wolfdogs for use as an attack dog. In the years following, it served government authorities as guard or patrol dogs; yet now they are usually kept by families who treasure them not only for companionship but also their adeptness in search and rescue missions, agility competitions, and tracking endeavors.

This canine resembles wolves in appearance and is robust, powerful, and agile. Its coat provides ideal insulation for cold climates while its tail appears luxuriously thick. When it comes to training these hounds, you need a great deal of patience as they can be willful yet devoted if their owners put forth the required effort and enthusiasm! The Czechoslovakian Vlcak, sometimes referred to as the Ceskoslovensky Vlciak, Ceskoslovensky Vlcak, or simply Vlcak; the Czech Wolfdog and Slovak Wolfdog are also alternative names for this breed. Additionally known by its acronym CSV.

The Vlcak is not a pup for novice owners. They have an inordinate amount of energy, which can be traced back to their wolf ancestry; they are incredibly clever and desire direction from their owner as “pack leader”. These pups require loads of exercise and playtime, making them best suited for homes with big yards or access to outdoor space. Even though these dogs love attention and will remain loyal companions, you should always proceed cautiously when introducing them to smaller animals due other potential prey drives. Other four-legged doggo friends should fit right in!
