Barbet

The Barbet, a water dog originating from France, appears in artwork dating as far back as the 16th century. He is of medium size and Sports a long tail. The most notable features of the Barbet are his curly coat of hair and his beard.

The Barbet is a swift, medium-sized bird dog whose curly coat–that covers his entire body from head to tail–is primarily black, gray, brown, or fawn. The defining characteristic of this rustic dog is the dense curly coat that covers him from the top of his large, broad head to the tip of his curving tail. He has a cheerful disposition and is very social and loyal.

The Barbet is a strong, solidly-built dog that has been bred for centuries to be a keen hunter and tireless swimmer. Barbets are very intelligent and learn new things quickly. They have a calm nature and are easy to live with as long as their exercise needs are being met.
